I bought the Montana 680t because I wanted the ease of using a touch screen vs the buttons like my 62st. I was a little concerned from another reviewer that the performance was not going to be as good, but my fears have been put to rest. This thing locks on faster than any other GPS I have used and I am talking from a cold start. I love the interface and love the ease of entering information like naming way points, entering coordinates, and searching for way points. I have not had any problems with losing satellite signals and battery life seems to be pretty good. If you are looking to upgrade from something like the 62 or 64 series this GPS will not disappoint. -

Some ten years ago I retired and took up hiking. I bought the Etrex20 and have never regretted it. I hike every day, usually about 5-9miles and enjoy every minute. Using Outdoor active to plan my routes and loading them on to the Garmin which takes minutes has given me the most enjoyable, cheap and health benefit pastimes in retirement. The Etrex has never let me down and still works perfectly. This upgrade to the 680 is for 4 reasons: 1. Rechargeable battery built in. 2. Electronic compass making it easier to navigate accurately. 3. Larger screen for my old eyes. 4. Camera built in......The battery only consumed 10% on a 3hr hike...The electronic compass greatly increases the accuracy....The larger screen has more definition and the camera takes excellent photographs. Splash out on a case and talktoast OS maps at £13 and you will have many years of wonderful country walks finding treasures most will never see. -
