The many positive reviews played a role in my getting this set of speakers, and as an audiophile who grew up with a dizzying array of ridiculously expensive audio equipment in the parental home, I'll be honest: these are not the best speakers I've heard by far. But they are absolutely the best speakers I've heard for the size and price, and I'm very happy with them. The frequency response is fairly even and wide, with full distortionless bass even at loud volumes thanks to the bass port, and they have something that not too many speakers of its size can boast: presence. They're also a breeze to set up (seriously, like a minute), and provide a perfect complement to my 43" smart TV, which has pretty crappy built-in sound. I have a small apartment but I can really enjoy movies now, not to mention streaming radio through the TV. And with 2 sets of inputs, I still have room to add another device later, e.g. a portable bluetooth receiver. Really one of the best purchases I've made. -

I like these so much I just ordered a second pair. And thanks to PRIME Day, they were discounted. So heads up to anyone who isn't a Prime member. Amazon is always adding incentives. Anyway, back to these R1280T Powered speakers. I bought the first pair really just as monitor speakers for my Boss BR8. But I was so impressed with the quality of sound coming from these I started experimenting with them in other rooms of my home. Although these are NOT Bluetooth capable, they have 2 (two) spots for RCA connections. In one of my guest bedrooms I hooked these up using a 3.5mm/RCA Amazon Basics cable x 2. One to the TV, the other to my Kindle Fire tablet for music, mostly. And took the stereo out of that room as it was no longer needed. Of course you can connect anything that has an output source. The speakers come with a nice simple remote. Mute, up, and down. Set the volume on whatever you have the speakers connected to, to a decent level, then use the provided remote to control the volume from there. You will be amazed how great these speakers sound. For small TV's like 40 inch that only use a 10 watt speakers it will make so much difference you won't believe how much better you can hear what you have been missing. Same on using if you are playing music through your Smart Phone, MP3 player, Laptop, whatever. Incredible difference. And they look as good as they sound. Although these do come with all the wiring you need. If you want to really fill the room, use longer speaker wire and spread the two speakers further apart in larger rooms. The bass, treble and highs are very well balanced. So well in fact that I routinely use these when I play guitar. And I play through a 100 Watt Marshall Tube Amp. And lastly to qualify my appreciation for the Edifier line of speakers. I have 5 Stereo Surround Systems. 4 of which are Onkyo Bluetooth Receivers with top of the line Polk Audio Speakers, with a few Cerwin Vega, Infinity & Klipsch. So I'm definitely into my music and sound. And I promise if you give these a try you will absolutely love them. -
