Top Review I had a different brand that I used for 2 years and it didn't cut the mustard. In looking for a replacement ... the Geryon vacuum sealers were getting consistently good reviews on Amazon. Although this looks to be a new model with relatively few (but all very positive) reviews, I really liked the built in cutter feature and ease of cleaning ... so I decided to give it a shot. Thus far I have vac sealed a couple of dozen meat and fish items of differing types using all of the settings ... it works very well and makes a high quality seal (which is very important to me because in addition to freezing, I do a lot of sous vide cooking, often times for 24+ hours and don't want to risk having a seal fail). So as my headline says, off to a very good start ... now we'll have to see how it holds up over time. I'll report back if anything changes. - JEH in StL

Top Review I wanted a vacuum sealer but couldn't bring myself to pay the high price of the major name brand machines. After reading numerous reviews, I decided to take a chance on the Geryon. It's perfect for my needs. I don't think the suction is quite as powerful as some of the more expensive ones, as it takes several seconds to suck out all the air. But that's okay...I'm in no hurry. The seals are fine, no leakage. I use it to freeze meats, for sous vide cooking, and for storage of perishable items. The other day I used only half of an avocado. I vacuum sealed the other half, and the next day it was still fresh and green...no blackened surface! Can't ask for more than that. - Jan D
