Additional Information
450P-RV Automatic offers an automatic shut-off function in a larger portable compressor. This 100% duty cycle unit is capable of pressures up to 150 PSI and can be operated for up to 40 minutes continously at 150 PSI before needing to be rested. The 450P-RV Automatic comes with a close-ended gas station-style air gun for added convenience.
I own several VIAIR pumps. Unfortunately, the last one was stolen. I think this one will be my favorite because: The first is the automatic shutoff. Many units require you to go back to the pump to turn it off. In the past, I would overfill the tire, go back to the pump, turn it off, then go back to the tire and reduce the air to the proper pressure. It’s doable, but it takes extra effort. The second point is the continuous duty cycle. Many units can run for 15 minutes and then require a 30 minute cool down. While this may not be important to some, why take the chance that the automatic thermal protection will shut down the unit and wait 30 minutes? As a bonus, I think to get a longer run time, the motor speed has been reduced, and the unit is fairly quiet. Third, the included air gun has a blood button, so you can easily reduce the air pressure if you overfill it. Fourth, the unit comes with two hoses, an extension for wide tires, and an air gun with gauge, so you’re ready for almost anything. Fifth, the kit is small enough to fit under the back seat of most SUVs. It is high quality and not cheap like some you see in some discount stores and gives you a “go to tire store” backup and saves you from having to locate a gas station with an air pump, piece of quarters and hope it works for a simple air fill. The only drawback I see is that the gauge goes to 170 if you are regularly filling 32 LBS passenger tires. Add a smaller scale gauge for a little more accuracy. My package also contained the screw-in valve fitting. Very solid, but if you fill a lot of tires, the “flip down” fitting would be faster. It is available separately. Note that the hoses I received were black, which I prefer.
